On Iris, and Other Cold Flowers
Orris is patience, monetized. Three years in the ground, two more curing, and what you get is not a flower but the memory of one — cool, rooty, faintly of raspberry and chalk.
The cold flowers — iris, violet leaf, mimosa in its silver moods — are less about beauty than about distance. Jorum Studio bottles that distance like weather; Hiram Green grows it patiently from absolutes alone.
An evaluation note I keep returning to: if a composition opens with iris and apologizes for it by the drydown, it never believed in the iris to begin with.
